Glenfield Care Home
Glenfield, located at the corner of Newark Street and Bedford Street, Greenock, the main building being late Victorian in style, is situated in a quiet residential area of the town. The building has been extensively upgraded in recent years and provides accommodation for 33 residents.
There are 25 single rooms, some with en-suite facilities, and 4 double rooms. Plans are in place to increase the number of rooms with en-suite facilities.

The rooms have pleasant outlooks, some over the gardens, others looking on to Glenpark Cricket ground and a few with views of the river. In addition, there are three lounges, two dining rooms, a kitchen, an interview room, a treatment room and a hairdressing salon Two lifts serve all floors.
The day-to-day running of the Home is the responsibility of the Home Manager, Mrs Margaret Harkins RGN, who is responsible to the Chief Executive, Mr Charles Young. The Home Manager is responsible for nursing and personal care, supervision of house keeping, diet and meals and for therapy arrangements.
Glenfield Care Home operates a No Smoking Policy within the building and its grounds.
Bagatelle Court
Bagatelle Court was built as a joint venture with Inverclyde Council in 1995 with the Council's involvement passing to River Clyde Homes in December 2007. Set in the former gardens of Bagatelle Mansion it provides 28 one and two bedroom flats, each with a lounge, kitchen and bathroom. Each flat is designed to offer facilities for the physically handicapped.
In addition to the gardens there is a communal lounge and a lift serving all floors.

The Society provides a Care Officer who is on duty from 9.00am to 4.00pm seven days per week. Out of these hours support to the tenants is provided by Bield Response 24.
A social programme is designed jointly by the House Convener and the tenants. This includes in-house events and visits to places of interest.
Room Facilites at in Bagatelle and Glenfield
All bedrooms in Bagatelle and Glenfield have a wash-hand basin, an alarm/assistance cord, smoke detectors, power points for television and automatic door closures. Some single rooms have an en suite toilet or en-suite toilet and shower.
Rooms are cleaned regularly by one of the house staff who will endeavour to do so with the minimum of disturbance. Clothing is collected for laundering by the housekeeping staff on request.
While individual rooms are more than adequately furnished, incoming residents are encouraged to bring with them some personal possessions. Residents may bring their own radio and/or television with them into the Homes. Due to lack of space small portable sets are preferred.
A personal telephone can be installed at a charge. With certain conditions a personal telephone may be installed in double rooms. A mobile phone is available for the use of those in shared rooms.
Bathrooms
Bathrooms with bath, shower, toilet and wash hand basins are located near all bedrooms, dining room and lounges. For any resident unable to use the bath without assistance there are bathrooms fitted with mechanical lifts.
Catering
The Catering staff offer a menu which provides, over the week, a wide range of food which is always fresh and appetising. Special dietary requirements should be made known to Home Manager, Assistant Home Manager or Senior Nurse. For those who are fit, lunch and high tea are served in the Dining Room. Residents may breakfast in the Dining Room or their own room. Morning Coffee, Afternoon Tea and Supper are available.
In Glenfield the WRVS offer a fortnightly trolley service providing a variety of items including biscuits, sweets, soft drinks, toiletries, writing paper etc. A similar service is offered in Bagatelle by members of the House Committee.

Lounges
Residents are welcome to use the Lounges at any time, either personally or when they have visitors.
Glenfield
There are three lounges in use - one on the ground floor the Graham Lounge, one on the first floor the Lynn Lounge which has a view of the river and a third on the first floor of the Drummond Wing overlooking Glenpark Cricket Ground. A television is installed in the Lynn Lounge and in the Graham Lounge.
Bagatelle
There are three lounges in use - the main lounge, the MacLean Lounge, is situated on the first floor with an uninterrupted view of the river. The Elgin Lounge is on the ground floor opposite the west Dining Room. There is a television installed in the Elgin Lounge and in the west Dining Room. A third lounge, the Leighton Lounge, is located in the East Wing on the first floor.
Books & Newspapers
Inverclyde Council Library Service supplies and changes a range of fiction and non-fiction books on a regular basis. These, with audio tapes, can be found in the Library. For any resident who is an avid reader, books on specialist subjects can be obtained on loan through the Council’s ‘Home-bound Service’.
Arrangements can be made to have a morning and afternoon paper delivered.
Services

Church Services
A short service conducted by members of the local clergy is held on Sunday afternoons at 2.30pm . At present the services are held at Glenfield and Bagatelle on alternate Sundays. A service is also held in each Home on alternate Tuesday evenings. Ministers/Priests and church visitors are always welcome in the Home.
Doctor
If you have lived locally and registered with a local GP, you will wish to remain with your own doctor. If, however, you wish or need to change, two local Medical Group Practices have worked with the Society for many years. They call at Glenfield and Bagatelle at least twice a week.
Hairdressing
A hairdressing service is available in both homes in the Hairdressing Salon. Appointments are made through the Duty Sister and a small charge is made.
House Committee
Each Home has a House Committee that meets once a month in the Home. These committees were originally formed to visit residents, but now also perform many more functions. An “Amenity Fund” is maintained by fundraising events. A programme of concerts, video shows and other entertainments also comes within the remit of this Committee but the friendly “Home Visiting” (two members visiting each month) offers the opportunity for residents to talk to committee members passing on praise, concerns or suggestions. The Committee liaise with the Home Manager and her staff on all points regarding the residents comfort and well-being.
Therapy
Three Diversional Therapists are employed by the Society to plan recreational activities which include reminiscence, carpet bowls, games, discussion groups, gentle exercise, art class, concert parties and special outings. One to one Therapy, where required, will be provided. Both Homes have magnificent gardens to be enjoyed. There is a weekly exercise class in each home taken by qualified volunteers or staff. Bagatelle has a Relaxation Room with specialist equipment for the benefit of residents. Plans have been developed for Glenfield to have a Relaxation Room with specialist equipment.
Mini Bus
A mini bus, which is suitable for wheelchair users is available to the Society for the benefit of residents courtesy of an agreement with Inverclyde Voluntary Council of Social Services. The mini bus will enable residents to go on organised trips and visits to local places of interest.
Visitors& Parking
Visitors
Visitors will be welcomed at any reasonable hour of the day or evening but we normally request that they leave by 10.00pm The Society is delighted to welcome children but we ask that you ensure they do not cause disturbance to other Residents.
Visitors may bring dogs into the Home provided that they are kept on a lead.
Car Parking
There is limited space at each Home for car parking, the area adjacent to the main door having to be reserved for ambulances or other emergency vehicles.
